Why do you need Blank-IT
It is a legal requirement for any onboard computer to comply with The Road Traffic (Vehicle Standards) Rules 2002 and the third edition Australian Design Rules and the installation certified by an authorized Inspection Engineer.
The Blank-it Vehicle Display Management utility runs on the onboard computer, either blanking out the screen or displaying only the allowable programs such as Aid to Navigation and Dispatch Systems.
Where there is a correct installation of an onboard computer, Blank-it will allow the installed computer to pass the current regulations and receive a certificate of compliance.
Any business with an on-the road workforce can benefit from Blank-IT - delivery drivers, local councils, government utilities, maintenance crews, forklift drivers, sales teams and mining sites are just some of our current clients.
How Blank-IT works
Blank-IT suits all vehicle types and can be installed on any
handheld, notebook computer or PC that operates a Windows
based operating system.
It starts up automatically when the computer is switched on and is activated when it detects that the vehicle is in motion
Blank-IT detects that the vehicle is in motion by the choice of the following two ways:
- By a GPS motion sensor - Using GPS technology Blank-IT detects the velocity of the vehicle and activates at a configured speed
- By the Blank-IT cable - This is wired into the handbrake circuit and activates when the ignition is on and the handbrake is fully released
When Blank-IT activates, the screen is immediately "blanked" and only allowable programs, which are preconfigured, such as aids to navigation or aids to scheduling can be viewed when the vehicle is in motion
