Road Regulations - the Law and Blank-IT
There are a range of legal requirements and regulations governing the use of in-vehicle computer equipment. These vary between regions/countries but many jurisdictions have some kind of restriction or regulations in place regarding in-vehicle displays.
Across the United States, many states now have specific legislation addressing in-vehicle technology and 'driver distraction'. Similar regulations are in place in Europe and the level of such regulations will only increase and spread to other regions and countries.
The Blank-IT Solution
For example, see this PDF document for a description of Australian and Western Australian road traffic regulations pertaining to this area of compliance (as at January 2009).
Another example of recent legislation is in Ontario, Canada where the operation of a motor vehicle is prohibited while the screen of a television, computer or other device is visible to the driver. See here for more details.
Blank-IT's simple and inexpensive technology helps you address regulatory and statutory requirements by blanking the computer screen when the vehicle is in motion or only displaying allowable programs, defined as "aids to navigation".
