Employer Liability and Distracted Driving – An Attorney Speaks

Our friends at Zoomsafer have created a couple of very interesting videos that highlight the potential legal risks for employers who do not create AND enforce Distracted Driving policies for their workforce.

The videos feature legal experts discussing the ways in which companies may be exposing themselves to legal action as a result of poor enforcement of Distracted Driving policies. They demonstrate that it is not sufficient for companies to create a policy – they have to ensure that the policy is actively applied across the workforce.

The first of these videos is embedded below.

Blank-IT has been designed specifically to address the problem of driver distraction and in-vehicle computers and laptops. It is easily installed, doesn’t rely on 3rd party input such as GPS, is fully customisable for different working environments and will help businesses conform with distracted driving legislation and OH&S requirements.

Blank-IT accommodates swing-away brackets to address situations such as Emergency Responder vehicles, where computer access is required for a non-driving crew member. It can also be configured to allow access to legally allowed functions such as aids to navigation and dispatch systems where applicable.
